About
Maresa earned her Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Mathematics and Computer and Information Science in 1984 from Jacksonville University. After graduating, she worked as a software designer and developer for 20 years. While volunteering at her church as a Sunday School teacher for many different age groups and working with the 5th and 6th graders, she knew God was calling her to work with youth in a full-time ministry role. She resigned from her software position and became the middle school youth pastor at her church. She was living the adage: “God doesn’t call the equipped; He equips the called.”
From 2004-2016 Maresa worked with students and young adults in church ministry environments. During this time of youth ministry, she was also taking classes to meet the educational requirements for ordination. After 10 years of practical experience and completing all of the required courses, Maresa was ordained in May 2014.
In January 2015 she began working as a substitute teacher in St. Johns County Florida and was herself a student in the Educator Preparation Institute (EPI) program at St. Johns River State College. In December 2015 Maresa graduated from the EPI program and became a Florida certified teacher for Mathematics (grades 5 – 9). She continued working for the St. Johns County School District through December 2016.
In January 2017 Maresa and her husband Alan moved to Guam as missionary pastors. She was subsequently issued her educator certification from the Guam Department of Education. While in Guam she felt God directing her to pursue a master’s degree. Maresa completed her Master of Science degree in Instructional Design and Technology from Trevecca Nazarene University in January 2019. In March 2019, Maresa and her husband relocated to St. Augustine, Florida.
