IDT 5130: Interactive and Digital Tools for Learning
TNU Course Description:
This course focuses on the design and development of various forms of interactive instructional media to support learning. This course will provide experiences in investigating, designing, developing and integrating a variety of interactive instructional media and mobile devices.
Instructor: Dr. Nicole Arrighi
Reflection:
This class introduced several strategies, tools, and technologies for developing interactive instruction. The “Tell ‘em in 10” (T10) active learning strategies PowerPoint presentation was one of the most impactful. The T10 structure is as follows:
Using the active learning strategies and the content in my Order of Operations T10 presentation was foundational for creating the Knovio recording, the Versal course, and the three-tiered assessment plan. One of the other key artifacts created in this class was the five-level Gamification Model to address an engaging training experience for newly hired teachers. The final artifact was the creation of an alignment chart that documents how the course assignments support the ISTE-Coaches' Standards.
While I have read about gamification and have used formative and summative assessments in a teaching environment, actually creating a gamification model and developing a three-tiered assessment plan was challenging. However, I appreciate having the opportunity to critically think through the processes and use my creativity, especially in the gamification model. I enjoyed this class and have acquired very practical strategies for developing instruction.

This class introduced several strategies, tools, and technologies for developing interactive instruction. The “Tell ‘em in 10” (T10) active learning strategies PowerPoint presentation was one of the most impactful. The T10 structure is as follows:
- A ten (10) slide PowerPoint presentation that incorporates three (3) learning strategies.
- Include an instructional guide (or script) for each slide to aid teachers/students viewing your notes.
- Within the first two slides, you should tell your participants "What They Will Learn" or the objectives of your presentation. (Opening Objectives)
- Within the final two slides, you should display "What They Know" or the summary of your notes. (Closure Slide)
